As of 19 October 2026, SkilledJobs lists 35 current engineering jobs at 24 employers holding a Skilled Worker sponsor licence on the Home Office register. The most listed occupation is electrical engineers (SOC 2123), with 7. Salary rules are national: generally £41,700 or the going rate, if higher. The licence is the employer's, not the vacancy's.

Eligible occupation codes present in these listings. Each links to the code's going rate, eligibility notes and sponsors.
Engineering consultancies, manufacturers, utilities and infrastructure contractors sponsor across mechanical, civil, electrical and production roles. Several engineering codes appear on the Immigration Salary List, which can lower the salary requirement for eligible applicants.
Engineering consultancies, manufacturers, utilities, rail and highways contractors, defence suppliers and the energy sector all hold sponsor licences, and they use them across the whole range of engineering grades. The listings here are at employers whose registered names match the Home Office register, from the large multidisciplinary consultancies to regional manufacturers with a single licence and a handful of certificates a year.
The codes are civil engineers (SOC 2121), mechanical engineers (2122), electrical engineers (2123), electronics engineers (2124), production and process engineers (2125), design and development engineers (2126), engineering project managers and project engineers (2127), engineering professionals not elsewhere classified (2129), and the technician codes for electrical and electronics (3112), engineering (3113), building and civil engineering (3114) and planning, process and production (3116). The professional codes sit at RQF level 6; the technician codes sit below it. Since 22 July 2025 the standard skill threshold for the route has been RQF level 6, and occupations below that level remain eligible only while they appear on the Immigration Salary List or the Temporary Shortage List, both of which GOV.UK publishes and revises.
Several engineering codes have appeared on the Immigration Salary List in successive versions, which lowers the general threshold for those codes and can reduce the bar an advertised salary is compared with. The list is revised, and GOV.UK publishes the current version, so the card compares the salary with the standard figure and leaves the list position for the reader to check against the exact code on the day.
There is no national pay scale for engineers in the private sector, so salaries are set by employer, discipline and grade, and the general threshold of £41,700 is the bar unless the going rate for the code is higher. Professional registration is voluntary rather than a legal requirement: chartered (CEng), incorporated (IEng) and engineering technician (EngTech) status are awarded through the Engineering Council and institutions such as the ICE, the IMechE and the IET, and many adverts ask for chartership or progress towards it. Overseas qualifications are compared with UK equivalents by UK ENIC and by the institutions themselves.
Engineering adverts often quote a range, and the Home Office compares the salary that will actually be paid against the threshold, not the top of the range. Site-based and offshore posts may quote allowances and overtime; those do not count as basic pay. Before relying on an advert, confirm with the employer the code it would assign, the basic salary, and whether the post is open to a Certificate of Sponsorship. Graduate schemes have their own rules, including the new entrant figure of £33,400 under the conditions GOV.UK sets out.
Check your own position with the eligibility checker or the salary calculator, and confirm with the employer that the role you want is open to sponsorship.
